2026-2027 Crossing Guard/Parking Lot Monitor @ Police Department/Child SafetyWork under minimal supervision to assist in providing student safety and to patrol/monitor high school campus parking lots.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Must be at least 18 years of ageValid Class C driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Basic knowledge of traffic safety regulationsAbility to identify and respond quickly to traffic safety hazardsMust demonstrate willingness to work with children and staffAbility to communicate instructions effectively to both children and adultsAbility to read, understand, and follow written instructionsWilling to work outdoors in a campus parking lot 8 hours a day no matter the weatherExperience:NoneMajor Responsibilities and DutiesPatrol and monitor high school campus parking lots.Assist children and other community members to safely cross the street at assigned intersections during designated hours without undue delay for vehicle traffic.Manage heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.Manage large groups and unruly children.Identify potential traffic safety hazards and respond quickly to protect children and avoid incidents.Ensure a smooth and expedient flow of both vehicular and foot traffic.Follow and uphold district safety requirements and report traffic violations and student misconduct in accordance with district procedures.Communicate safety and traffic rules to students and parents as needed.Correct unsafe conditions when possible and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor as soon as practicable.Supply counts and reports as requested.Report any person loitering in vicinity of or interfering with a guard/controller.Use tact and courtesy when working and dealing with students and staff.Other:Ability to read, comprehend and prepare various reports.Has the ability to perform the job with little or no supervision.Keep equipment in good condition.Wear uniform and safety equipment at all times while on duty.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneEvaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Manual Trades – Security Personnel.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Handheld traffic signs, traffic cones, reflective safety attire, security equipment, and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting and standingMotion: Strenuous walking and climbing; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent drivingLifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15 - 44 pounds)Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather).
