Substitute Bus Aide

Job TitleResponsibilities:Work with Bus Driver(s), Transportation Supervisor, and Transportation Clerk to aid a student in line with a student's I.E.P.Assist students with physical disabilities on and off the bus using the wheelchair lift or other adaptations as instructed - Battery or hydraulic poweredMonitor students with disabilities while they ride the bus to ensure their safety and assist them with any physical needsHave physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting and managing preschool and special needs children when necessaryMake sure that students with disabilities are safely left with a school staff member or their parent/caregiver before departingProperly handle wheelchair tie-down straps and other safety equipment as neededDeal with students in a friendly manner, even the occasional unruly studentDeal with occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluidsAssist the Bus Driver with other duties as requested by the Bus Driver, Transportation Supervisor, or Transportation ClerkComply with all Plain Local Board of Education policies and proceduresPerform other duties as directed
