Location Requirement This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days in the office a week in the following locations: Plano, TX; Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Indianapolis, IN; or Columbus, OH. Ideal Candidate Technical problem solver — beyond developing error‑free source code, you’ll document and build deployment guides to maintain robust, relevant software. Customer‑centric engineer — you’ll translate customer requirements into technical applications and support the implementation of new software. Motivated mentor — coach and collaborate with junior software engineers. Forward thinker — identify opportunities to enhance performance, quality and efficiency using a proactive mindset and initiative. Responsibilities Work in an agile environment to develop creative solutions for our claims product. Accelerate speed to market by addressing current product needs and developing long‑term strategic solutions using technologies such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Java and other potential backend languages. Utilize cloud services and tools, including AWS, Cloud Foundry, and CDN providers. Demonstrate proficiency in multiple object‑oriented and functional programming languages. Build and implement RESTful services. Employ an open‑minded and collaborative approach to create innovative technical solutions. Analyze technical system problems to design and implement effective, flexible solutions. Handle end‑to‑end development, including coding, testing, and debugging in each development cycle. Develop automated tests across multiple scopes, including unit, system, integration, and regression testing. Mentor new and junior developers. Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement. Qualifications Minimum of five years of software engineering experience. Background in business operations and strategies, with a focus on business IT. History of translating client requirements into technical designs. Agile engineering capabilities and a design‑thinking mindset. Collaboration, adaptability, flexibility and the ability to manage time and prioritize work with a globally distributed development team. Strong oral and written communication skills, including explaining decisions to non‑engineers. Thorough grasp of IT concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture, technical standards, shared software concepts and layered solutions. Proficiency in software engineering languages and tools such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js and other potential backend languages. Java and RESTful services, spanning horizontal and vertical packages. Understanding of how modifications affect different parts of a system and the ability to explain decisions to non‑engineers. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience. The full salary range reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop.
