General Description: The primary objectives of this position are to oversee the end-to-end flow of food – warehousing, inventory tracking, and transportation logistics. The Director will optimize the safe, cost-effective distribution of resources from donors and suppliers to community partner agencies. 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the efficient and accurate flow of product through the San Antonio and remote Food Bank facilities by leading key staff in receiving, receipting, warehousing, reporting/inventory, distribution and quality control.
• Coordinates with internal departments concerning all aspects of acquisition and distribution of goods.
• Lead and motivate high functioning teams; Provides leadership guidance to direct reports for hiring, training, supervising and evaluating staff.
• Monitors and audits to ensure a safe work environment for all safety sensitive positions in operations, including compliance with OSHA standards. USDA, FDA, DOT, OSHA and Feeding America
• Oversees all aspects of inventory control, material handling equipment, and receiving goods, perishables and non-perishables.
• Coordinates retail food rescue programs, surplus recovery, and purchased goods.
• Supervises logistics of all distribution practices to ensure timely, fair and equitable distribution to agencies and clients.
• Complies with the requirements set forth by local, state, and national regulatory agencies, including standards set forth by Feeding America, USDA, FDA, and the DOT.
• Assures maintenance of warehouse and transportation equipment of the San Antonio Food Bank, New Braunfels Food Bank, Haven for Hope, Pearsall Packing Shed and San Angelo Food Bank.
• Monitors budget, profit and loss.
• Captures measurable performance data for all aspects of transportation and warehouse.
• Assumes the supervisory responsibility for TDCJ inmates, and other voluntary parties in the Warehouse Operations.
• Supports safety programming and serves on the Safety Committee.
• Works alongside other Directors and Chiefs to ensure the most effective and optimized logistical planning.
• Serves as part of the emergency and disaster relief action planning team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. May substitute equivalent operational experience.
• 5 or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in supply chain, logistics, or large-scale warehouse distribution.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, motivate staff and deliver results.
• Experience with ERP systems and specialized Warehouse Management Systems.
• Experience with automated Routing Systems.
• Deep knowledge of DOT compliance and FMCSR reporting.
• Experience with safety auditing, AIB preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Expert skills in computer applications and database oversight
• Good judgment and discretion.
• Ability to organize work, time, and self.
• Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with other Food Bank staff, donors and volunteers.
• Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, stand, pull, reach, and stoop for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to lift, and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

This job is performed in an office environment and will require outdoor work as well in hot and cold conditions. You will be required to drive to different locations.
