Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Registered nurses in the PACU provide comprehensive post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from surgical procedures. They monitor vital signs, assess patient status, and manage pain and complications to ensure safe and smooth recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions continuously during recovery and respond to changes promptly.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following safety protocols.
• Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Document patient observations, interventions, and responses accurately in medical records.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions.
• Monitor and maintain equipment and supplies used in the PACU.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Demonstrate current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Possess at least 1 year of experience in acute care or PACU setting preferred.
• Complete Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
• Have foundational knowledge of dysrhythmia recognition and management.
