Registered Nurse Infection Prevention

Job Summary:

The Infection Preventionist is responsible for independently managing infection prevention activities within an acute care hospital setting. This role requires expertise in infection control practices, collaboration with healthcare teams, and utilization of electronic health record systems such as EPIC. The position demands at least one year of infection prevention experience, certification in infection control (CIC), and the ability to work Monday through Friday without weekend or holiday shifts. Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor infection prevention and control protocols in the acute care hospital environment.
• Conduct surveillance and data analysis related to healthcare-associated infections.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
• Provide education and training to hospital personnel on infection prevention best practices.
• Utilize EPIC electronic health records for documentation and reporting purposes.
• Work independently to identify infection risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is mandatory.
• Minimum of one year of acute care infection prevention experience.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles and acute care hospital protocols.
• Ability to work independently and manage infection control programs.
• Active professional license if applicable (RN license not required for this role).
• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Laboratory Sciences, Microbiology, or related health science field.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience as a House Supervisor with infection prevention responsibilities.
• Additional training or certifications related to healthcare quality or safety.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend or holiday shifts; Monday through Friday schedule only.
• No on-call duties required.
• Position requires working independently within a Magnet-designated acute care hospital.
• Radius for commute is limited to 50 miles.
• Travel assignments and outside employment scheduling requests will not be considered.
• Free parking available for staff.

Scheduling:

• Standard Monday through Friday daytime shifts.
• No weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts expected.
• Schedule is fixed with no flexibility for outside employment conflicts.
