Position Overview

Quality Assured Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing services at a residence / school base in Frederick, MD. The nurse will support the physical, emotional, and medical needs of students residing in and attending school on campus while maintaining compliance with nursing standards, school policies, and state regulations.

This position is ideal for nurses who enjoy working with children and adolescents in an educational and residential environment.

Essential Responsibilities

Student Health Assessment & Care

• Assess, evaluate, and monitor students' medical and emotional health status.
• Utilize professional nursing judgment to determine appropriate care and interventions.
• Identify student health needs and provide treatment according to physician standing orders.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Monitor changes in student conditions and communicate concerns appropriately.
• Coordinate emergency medical care and communicate with parents, hospitals, emergency responders, and school administration.
• Provide health education regarding wellness, disease prevention, and personal hygiene.

Medication Administration

• Administer medications via oral, topical, inhalation, and injection routes as prescribed.
• Maintain accurate medication administration records.
• Monitor and document effectiveness of PRN medications.
• Receive, log, store, and return student medications as required.
• Monitor medication expiration dates and ensure proper disposal procedures.

Documentation & Communication

• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and student health records.
• Document all student health center visits, treatments, and interventions.
• Utilize PowerSchool and other designated systems for nursing documentation.
• Maintain monthly medication records and daily health center logs.
• Communicate with parents regarding health concerns, medication needs, medical updates, and communicable illnesses.
• Provide detailed shift reports and handoff communication to incoming nursing staff.

Health Center Operations

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized health center environment.
• Follow infection control and OSHA/MOSH standards.
• Monitor medical supplies and equipment inventory.
• Replenish supplies and maintain equipment as needed.

Student Support & Campus Collaboration

• Attend student activities and athletic events when required.
• Assist dormitory staff with identifying student health concerns and safety issues.
• Conduct student rounds as needed.
• Maintain effective communication with dorm supervisors, school staff, and administration.
• Support campus health and safety initiatives.
• Perform additional nursing-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current CPR/BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Minimum one (1) year of clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively during emergencies.
• Experience with electronic health records and healthcare documentation systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• School nursing experience.
• Pediatric, adolescent, community health, or residential care experience.
• Experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Knowledge of school health regulations and medication administration practices.

Scheduled Hours

• Sunday: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Monday – Thursday: 2:45 PM – 11:00 PM
