Kindergarten, 2nd & 4th Grade Elementary School Teacher
Andalusia School is seeking dedicated Elementary School Teachers for Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 4th Grade. The ideal candidates will create a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment while helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
Teachers will be responsible for planning and delivering grade-appropriate lessons, supporting student growth, maintaining classroom routines, and preparing students for academic success. Students participate in New York State assessments, so teachers should be comfortable teaching to grade-level standards and helping students develop the skills needed for state exams.
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach engaging, grade-appropriate lessons in core subjects.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with school curriculum and NY State standards.
- Build strong foundations in literacy, math, writing, science, and social studies.
- Prepare students for classroom assessments and applicable NY State exams.
- Create a positive, organized, and respectful classroom environment.
- Use differentiated instruction to support students at different learning levels.
- Track attendance, grades, student progress, and required documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents, administration, and colleagues.
- Attend meetings, trainings, conferences, and school events as required.
- Support the mission, values, and expectations of Andalusia School.
Requirements and Preferences
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, or related field preferred.
- State Teachers’ Certification is preferred and compensated.
- Early Childhood Certification preferred for Kindergarten.
- Elementary/Childhood Education Certification preferred for 2nd and 4th Grade.
- Enrollment in a teacher certification program is preferred and compensated.
- Advanced degree in the field with teaching experience is preferred and compensated.
- Prior elementary classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organization skills required.
- Familiarity with NY State standards and state exam preparation is a plus.
