Junior Software Engineer

Salary: $78,000 - 91,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, data or information science, mathematics, or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Academic or professional coding experience in at least one of these languages: Python, Ruby, .NET, Java, C++, C#, Kotlin, Rust, or JavaScript, including object-oriented design.
• Strong programming foundation related to applied mathematics, engineering, or physical sciences.
• Team-oriented approach and willingness to learn, with strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and work ethic.
• Visa sponsorship is not currently available.
• Preferred: Experience implementing full-stack solutions across front-end and back-end development.
• Preferred: Knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Preferred: Familiarity with wholesale electricity markets.
• Preferred: Initiative, a strong work ethic, and motivation to learn and advance professionally.

• Build and deliver features across our SaaS platform, writing clean, tested, well-documented production code and owning work from design through deployment.
• Design and write scalable code; our backend team primarily uses Python, SQL, SAS, and C#, while our frontend team uses React.
• Refactor code to improve performance, stability, and scalability.
• Develop unit, integration, and automated tests; contribute to CI/CD pipelines, triage bugs, and improve system reliability and performance.
• Work with analysts and data scientists to integrate, generalize, and prototype mathematical and data science models in production software.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to turn ideas into working software and contribute to standups, design discussions, and cross-functional projects.
• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Participate in agile scrum activities, including technical design reviews, implementation planning, operational system support, and sprint planning.
• Learn and develop through code reviews, pair programming, and mentorship from senior engineers.
