Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The role requires an experienced registered nurse to provide high-quality care in a progressive care unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, managing various patient needs.

Scheduled Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week (1900-0730)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department.
• Proficiency with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and drawing labs independently.
• Experience managing codes and conducting own consults without a vascular access team.
• Familiarity with open-heart surgery patients, particularly on Day 2 or Day 3 with pacer wires.
• Patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1 maximum.

Licensure & Certification Requirements

• Active RN license (Kansas or Compact RN License).
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.

Floating Requirements

The registered nurse may be required to float to various units, including ICU and all inpatient units such as Med/surg, Med/tele, Acute/tele, and ED, based on prior experience.

Weekend and Holiday Requirements

• Every other weekend availability is required.
• Must work one holiday from each group: Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday, Christmas Eve or Day, and New Year's Eve or Day (flexible to work two major holidays).

Orientation Requirements

Orientation includes:

• Two days of orientation at the designated campus.
• Training specific to the role's requirements over the subsequent days.
• Virtual training for the electronic medical record system (Epic).

Additional Information

• The facility maintains a nicotine-free policy.
• A minimum of 8 hours of non-billable orientation is expected.
• Travelers may have one shift cancellation allowed per two-week pay period at no cost.
• All lab work and credentialing must be completed promptly upon acceptance of the offer.
