Kitchen Assistant ManagerThe Kitchen Assistant Manager is a key member of the culinary team, responsible for supporting the Kitchen Manager in the daily operation of the kitchen while maintaining high standards for food quality, safety, organization, and efficiency.In addition to strong cooking skills, the ideal candidate will bring excellent organizational and administrative abilities. This position plays an important role in inventory management, food cost control, ordering, scheduling, and staff development. The successful candidate will work closely with the Kitchen Manager to monitor kitchen performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure the team has the tools, product, and support needed to operate successfully.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Kitchen Manager with the day-to-day operations of the kitchenMaintain high standards of food quality, preparation, presentation, and consistencyFollow and enforce all health, safety, and sanitation standards and proceduresAssist with inventory counts, inventory organization, and inventory controlMonitor product usage and help maintain appropriate inventory levelsAssist with analyzing food costs and COGS and identify opportunities to improve cost controlAccurately place and manage food and supply ordersMonitor deliveries to ensure accuracy, quality, and proper storageAssist with creating and managing kitchen staff schedules based on business needsSupport proper prep planning and production levels to minimize waste and maximize efficiencyTrain, coach, and develop kitchen staff to ensure consistency and adherence to company standardsProvide ongoing guidance and support to team membersCommunicate effectively with the Kitchen Manager and culinary team regarding daily operations, staffing, inventory, and other kitchen needsHelp maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environmentLead by example and promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environmentStep into a leadership role when the Kitchen Manager is unavailableRequirementsQualificationsPrevious kitchen leadership or supervisory experience preferredStrong understanding of health, safety, and sanitation requirementsStrong inventory management and control skillsWorking knowledge of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and food cost managementStrong organizational and administrative skillsExperience creating and managing employee schedulesAbility to accurately place, receive, and manage product ordersStrong staff training, coaching, and development skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to follow through on responsibilitiesAbility to analyze information, recognize trends, and work collaboratively to identify opportunities for improvementAbility to balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on kitchen operations Westlake Village Inn
