Position Vision The Inventory Management Specialist is responsible for scheduling, rescheduling inventory counts with inventory teams and property custodians, reviewing inventory folders for reconciliation and updating the database to reflect all changes, obtaining signatures on reconciled reports, and filing documentation. The Inventory Management Specialist will serve on an Inventory Team. The teams are responsible for conducting wall‑to‑wall inventories of all Government property with barcodes, identifying property that should have been accounted for and for items not barcoded, attaching stickers to identify verification, collecting missing data to be uploaded to the property database in Excel format electronically and in writing. Major Responsibilities (not all inclusive) Accountability of Government‑owned property (furniture, fixtures and equipment) Barcoding Physical inventories of government‑owned equipment/furniture Creating and maintaining inventory folders on the shared drive Maintaining inventory records submitted by DOT customers Reconciliations Reutilization efforts and initiatives Excessing of property Property/warehouse data collections Database updates of assets and furniture Computer donations Maintenance and repair of furniture Furniture inspections Internet research Records Management Mandatory Training/Certification Property Management Certification Skills Required Inventory management skills Education and certifications, or at least three years of specialized experience, in property management. Familiarity with Property Management Regulations set forth by the General Services Administration, GAO, Office of Ethics, Office of Management and Budget, and keeping up with all new regulations as they are developed. Member of the Inventory Team Proficiency in using electronic scanning equipment and uploading to automated database systems. Skills in barcoding and scanning equipment. Experience with web‑based property management database systems. Microsoft Office skills; especially Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Records Management program: reviewing records inventories, transfer documents, retrieval of records, and reviewing record schedules. Valid driver’s license and ability to provide transportation to and from work. Must possess a cell phone during working hours to maintain communication between COR and team members. Courteous behavior and the ability to report discrepancies to IGH for review with the Contracting Officer and COR. Excellent English communication skills verbally and in writing. Physical ability to walk for long periods of time, lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, bend, and stoop. Possess or be able to obtain Property Management certifications. Wearing DOT Contractor identification badges during work hours and adherence to scheduled hours. Availability for overtime or comp time on a pre‑approved basis. Ability to travel beyond the Metropolitan area for 2 to 7 days at a time, on an as‑needed basis. Wearing uniforms when conducting the annual physical inventory counts and validation. Clearance Required Willing to undergo, complete and pass a security background investigation. Experience Required At least 3 years of experience and training in performing inventory management and records management. At least 3 years of experience conducting physical inventory count services and reconciliations. At least 3 years of experience operating a web‑based property management software application. Provide documentation of experience and training. Other Competencies Must be a U.S. Citizen. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Excellent time management skills. Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work as a team member or as an individual contributor. Excellent relationship‑building skills. Proven track record of team‑building and leadership. History of developing, managing and reporting metrics.
