Director of Inpatient Counseling and Psychological Services

OverviewThe Director of Inpatient Counseling and Psychological Services, will be responsible for both everyday operations and ensuring the quality of therapeutic, psychological, case management and discharge management services within the inpatient unit. Working closely with both the system’s Director of Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Services and the inpatient unit’s administrative and medical and nursing leaders , the Director of Inpatient Counseling and Psychological Services will ensure that their teams are actively participating and contributing to each patient’s treatment and discharge plan. Acting as a clinical psychologist, the Director of Inpatient Counseling and Psychological Services will diagnose and treat patients suffering from mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders as a part of a multi-disciplinary inpatient behavioral health treatment team. Responsibilities include the assessment of patients to determine the nature, causes, and potential effects of personal distress; of personal, social, and work dysfunctions; and the psychological factors associated with physical, behavioral, emotional, nervous, and mental disorders, through interviews, behavioral assessments, and the administration and interpretation of tests of intellectual abilities, aptitudes, personal characteristics, and other aspects of human behavior relative to the disturbance. Clinical psychologists may provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies.
