Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Hire Up Staffing is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This position will perform advanced Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) procedures while providing exceptional patient care and maintaining the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and image quality.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine and advanced Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging procedures.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately.
- Perform patient care activities including patient interviews, assessments, IV insertion, POCT, transportation, education, and discharge.
- Safely screen patients, including evaluating implanted devices and ensuring imaging clearance when required.
- Follow ALARA principles and all radiation safety requirements, particularly when working with high-energy PET radiopharmaceuticals.
- Recognize patient distress or critical findings and appropriately initiate or assist with emergency response procedures.
- Administer contrast agents according to established safety and medication-administration standards.
- Apply age-specific patient care practices and maintain strict infection-control standards.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
- Ensure accurate and complete patient documentation and data entry.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images through proper positioning, imaging parameters, annotation, and site verification.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, Nuclear Medicine, molecular imaging, PET principles, and factors affecting image quality.
- Operate Nuclear Medicine, PET, hot lab, and related imaging equipment independently.
- Perform CT procedures as assigned.
- Complete quality assurance activities and report equipment malfunctions appropriately.
- Ensure accurate and timely image transfer to PACS.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked imaging and work areas.
- Monitor radioactive material levels and perform decontamination and radioactive-material disposal as required.
- Assist with equipment, safety, refrigerator, temperature, and other required departmental logs.
- Support efficient patient flow, minimize delays, and help maintain on-time starts.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient-experience initiatives.
- Provide education, training, coaching, and mentorship to students, technologists, and other staff.
- Participate in continuing education, departmental meetings, mandatory training, and equipment orientations.
- Follow Joint Commission, ACR, state, and federal standards and regulations.
- Participate in rotational call coverage, alternative shift coverage, and emergency ride-out responsibilities as assigned.
- Travel to off-site regional imaging facilities as needed.

Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
- At least 1 year of imaging experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist/PET Technologist.
- Current Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification through ARRT or NMTCB.
- Current Texas Medical Board (TMB) Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program with required clinical experience.
- Ability to meet applicable state and federal licensing and certification requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- PET certification.
- Additional ARRT or NMTCB certifications.
- ACLS certification.
- PALS/PEARS certification.
- Previous Nuclear Medicine experience in a major academic medical center or comparable healthcare environment.
- Experience with PET/CT and advanced Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures.
