The Associate Director/Advisor for Careers in Media and Technology joins an established team of advisors serving both students and alumnae. Provide in-person and virtual one-on-one, group, and drop-in advising for students and graduates interested in the media and technology industries (please note, industry clusters may shift annually based on staffing and student interest levels)
Maintain and communicate current information related to recruiting practices, timelines, fellowships, internship/research opportunities, and industry trends
Adjust and adapt advising to the unique backgrounds, interests, identities, and aspirations of Wellesley students and graduates
Educate and prepare advisees on internship and job search strategies, including document review, networking techniques, interview preparation, and salary negotiation
Educate and prepare advisees on relevant graduate school application processes, including application timelines, academic planning, test taking, document review, school choice, and funding considerations
Assist advisees in leveraging the use of Handshake, LinkedIn, the Wellesley Hive (Wellesley’s mentorship platform), and other technology in their internship, job or graduate school search
Emphasize the importance of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and reflection as part of the career development process, complementing and building upon the guidance offered by Career Education’s Associate Directors/Advisors for Career Exploration
Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Operations to ensure targeted content for newsletters, emails and notices to those interested in media and technology
Programming and Events
Design, plan, and execute events and programs, including workshops, industry series, and alumnae panels that reflect a variety of opportunities and career journeys in the assigned fields
Partner closely with the Employer Engagement team on fairs, recruiting events, and information sessions with employers in media and technology fields
Collaborate with faculty, student organizations, and other campus partners to offer targeted career-related programming for various student populations

Serve on office-wide committees annually and support “all hands on deck” events including fairs, career retreats, and internship events
Campus Partnerships, Cross-Functional Teams and College Initiatives
Serve as a liaison to College departments and student organizations as appropriate, ensuring seamless partnership and constant communication
Serve on occasional cross-functional teams and campus-wide committees to promote the vision and direction of Career Education and the College as a whole
