Sr Director, Public Affairs, Global Therapeutic Area Communications, HIV Prevention & Cure

Job Description Reporting to the Executive Director of Global Public Affairs, Virology & Inflammation, develop and implement global communications about Gilead’s R&D efforts, current product portfolio, partnerships, programs, and initiatives in HIV prevention and cure. Responsibilities - Collaborate across functions/geographies to develop a global communications strategy to expand access to HIV prevention and cure innovations.

• Serve as key strategic communications advisor to cross-functional HIV pipeline program strategy teams.
• Develop communications strategies, programs, and materials for pipeline candidates, clinical studies, regulatory filings, and educational/access initiatives.
• Proactively lead global issues management (ICR, GPS, and ACE: Australia, Canada, Europe).
• Oversee corporate storytelling on HIV prevention and cure across external and internal channels.
• Maintain and proactively update talking points and key message documents for the HIV prevention portfolio.
• Partner with Global Advocacy on initiatives/partnerships addressing societal and systemic barriers to broad uptake of HIV prevention interventions.
• Collaborate on related HIV programs across Public Affairs/Government Affairs (e.g., corporate communications, community engagement, corporate giving, policy).
• Partner with Corporate media relations to build relationships with reporters and shape coverage of HIV portfolio, pipeline, and access approach.
• Manage PR agency partners and oversee work to ensure compliance with business conduct policies.
• Manage submission, review, and approval of materials through Global review committee process.
• Manage budgets to target and optimize resources.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills (Qualifications) - BA in communications/liberal arts/business/science + 14 years relevant experience (including 10–12 years healthcare PR) OR Master’s + 12 years.

• Education/experience managing public health issues strongly preferred.
• Prior experience and passion for HIV preferred.
• Ability to interact with senior leaders, academic experts, and patient advocates.
• Ability to influence and drive alignment across diverse teams and geographies.
• Passion for public health and policy issues.
• Demonstrated knowledge of regulations governing communications for a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company.
