Lead Software Engineer - Observability & Platform Health

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal software engineering training or certification, with at least 5 years of applied experience
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile practices, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• In-depth knowledge of financial services and related IT systems
• Practical cloud-native experience
• Advanced hands-on experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus-compatible metric backends, Splunk, and Grafana, including alert design, data source configuration, and custom dashboards
• Production experience with Kubernetes and Helm in a regulated enterprise environment, distributed SQL databases, advanced SQL on large relational datasets, and schema migration tools such as Liquibase
• Working knowledge of Identity and Access Management concepts, including entitlements, certifications, provisioning and revocation, and SCIM; experience building systems used by internal audit, regulators, or formal control frameworks

• Develop creative software solutions, design systems, and troubleshoot technical issues using approaches that go beyond routine methods
• Build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others
• Promote enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and encourage reuse of effective patterns
• Apply Software Development Life Cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
• Identify recurring issues and opportunities to eliminate them or automate their remediation to improve application and system stability
• Lead evaluations with vendors, startups, and internal teams, assessing architecture, technical capabilities, and fit with existing systems and information architecture
• Own the architecture and multi-quarter technical roadmap for a Kubernetes-based, multi-service observability platform, including shared library contracts, versioning, and migration strategy
• Design the data layer, including schemas and queries for distributed SQL and large Oracle datasets, as well as production-safe migration tooling and rollback strategies
• Define how the platform emits and publishes metrics, logs, and traces, and establish standards for meaningful signals
• Represent the platform as a senior technical voice to leadership, control partners, and internal audit, translating platform evidence into decisions and control requirements into engineering work
