Senior Scientist, AI Lead

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Scientist, AI Lead for the Cell and Gene Therapy team in Pennsylvania. This applied AI generalist will translate scientific challenges into AI solutions, lead cross-functional projects, and drive adoption of machine learning and generative AI across R&D operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional AI projects supporting Cell and Gene Therapy development priorities
• Design, prototype, test, and iterate AI solutions across machine learning, generative AI, and computer vision
• Partner with process development and manufacturing teams to identify challenges suitable for AI intervention
• Evaluate AI solutions for model performance, scientific validity, and business value before integration
• Track adoption metrics, share outcomes, and promote organizational culture of AI-augmented scientific expertise

Requirements

• BS in biology, chemistry, chemical/biochemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field with 4+ years experience
• MS degree with 2+ years relevant experience, or PhD with 0-1 years experience
• 2+ years academic or industry experience delivering applied AI solutions
• Strong scientific background linking domain challenges to AI technologies
• Broad understanding of machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, and generative models
• Knowledge of responsible AI practices including validation, transparency, privacy, and governance
