Program Manager

Position Summary This position is responsible for developing, managing and implementing a volunteer-led program strategy for the assigned office service area which includes South Cook County, the southern Chicagoland suburbs and surrounding areas. The primary goal is to increase constituent access to Alzheimer’s Association care and support programs by significantly growing and strengthening the volunteer base. Measurable outcomes include significant growth in the recruitment, training, and supervision of local program volunteers; an increase in the number of constituents served through volunteer-led community education programs and support groups; increased utilization of the Helpline and web-based care; and the expansion of community-based education and support programs into disproportionately impacted communities. Additionally, this role will lead the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter’s faith-based organization engagement across the state and plan and lead the annual "Release the Silence: An African American Community Conference" held in April/May. Responsibilities Recruit, train and lead volunteers to deliver and grow programs in designated markets, providing ongoing technical assistance, coaching and support. Ensure accountability through regular monitoring of volunteer impact and actions to improve performance. Manage and maintain a portfolio of high-impact community partners, expanding collaborative agreements with existing and new partners, especially in underrepresented communities. Lead and plan community-based conferences and manage conference planning committees. Manage strategy and engagement opportunities with faith-based organizations in the assigned region and oversee colleagues across the state. Promote a full-mission value proposition to support Alzheimer’s Association campaigns (quality care, fundraising, advocacy). Model and foster a culture that values staff, volunteer, and community partnership, aligning with the Association’s best practices and core values. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of program impact, volunteer performance data, and grant‑funded projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Three to five years of experience in programs, volunteer and/or team management. Experience in community health and community volunteer mobilization (plus). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proven success in building and maintaining key relationships and meeting strategic goals through volunteer-led initiatives. Ability to identify and cultivate relationships with community partners, organizations, volunteers and diverse populations. Strong collaboration skills, holding others accountable and achieving mutually agreeable outcomes. Familiarity with a public health approach focused on health promotion and early detection. Experience building rapport, assessing needs, and articulating a value proposition. Ability to represent the Association effectively to community partners, community leaders, and corporate partners. Excellent written and presentation skills. General knowledge of community health, community-based organizations, and systems. Willingness to work evenings and weekends for community programming, volunteer management, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and other events. Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25 lbs of materials. Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, social media, and experience with or ability to learn Luminate/Convio software. Willingness to travel up to 50 % within the assigned territory by car; occasional overnight or air travel may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance. The Alzheimer’s Association’s good faith expectation for the salary range for this role is between $70,000 and $75,000.
