About the Role

The Company is seeking an AVP, System Patient Safety to provide enterprise-level leadership in patient safety, high reliability, and the prevention of avoidable harm. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and advancing the enterprise patient safety strategy, establishing the necessary infrastructure and standards, and leading the organization in becoming a High Reliability Organization. This role requires a Master’s degree in a related healthcare discipline, with an advanced clinical or terminal degree preferred, and a minimum of 12 years of leadership experience in patient safety, quality, or a related field. The AVP will be the senior authority and subject matter expert in patient safety, translating national and emerging safety science into practice, and will be accountable for the organization's ability to prevent harm and sustain high performance. Applicants for the AVP, System Patient Safety position at the company should have a proven track record in leading enterprise-wide patient safety and high reliability transformation. The role demands expertise in contemporary patient safety science, systems thinking, and safety culture, as well as the ability to influence and partner with leaders at all levels. Preferred qualifications include certifications in patient safety, risk management, or quality, and experience with safety event review and organizational learning programs. The ideal candidate will have a background in an academic medical center, with a focus on scholarship, teaching, and national leadership in patient safety and related disciplines. The AVP will be expected to build sustainable enterprise capabilities, lead through distributed teams, and maintain a consistent enterprise approach while allowing for local accountability and flexibility.
