Sensorex operates within Halma’s Environmental & Analysis sector, focused on water analysis and environmental monitoring solutions.Position OverviewThe AR Staff Accountant is responsible for owning the full accounts receivable lifecycle while supporting month‑end close, payroll, sales and use tax compliance, and financial reporting activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate customer accounts, ensuring timely collections, administering full‑scope payroll processing, and ensuring compliance with indirect tax requirements, while supporting strong internal controls within the accounting function.As a secondary responsibility, the position provides limited backup support for basic financial system and desktop troubleshooting during planned absences, following documented procedures and coordinating with internal or external IT resources as needed. This aspect of the role is intended to ensure continuity of operations.This role works closely with Sales, IT, and Customer Service, and is well-suited for an accounting professional who values detail, ownership, and process discipline.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the full accounts receivable lifecycle, including customer invoicing, cash application, credits, adjustments, collections, and maintenance of accurate customer account recordsProactively monitor AR aging and follow up on past‑due balances, resolving billing discrepancies, short payments, unapplied cash, and customer disputesPartner with Sales and Customer Service on credit matters, account holds, customer taxability questions, and customer issue resolutionOwn and administer full sales and use tax compliance through Avalara AvaTax, including taxability mapping, exemption certificate management, transaction review, reconciliations, and support of monthly and annual filings in coordination with external tax advisorsMonitor sales and use tax accounts, prepare supporting schedules, and reconcile tax liabilities to the general ledger to ensure accurate reporting and complianceOwn and execute end‑to‑end bi‑weekly payroll processing, including data validation, system processing, payroll journal entries, reconciliations, and review and approval of employee expense reports to support accurate financial reporting and complianceSupport month‑end close activities by reconciling AR‑, payroll‑, and sales/use tax‑related accounts to the general ledger and preparing supporting schedules and documentationAssist with bank reconciliations, intercompany AR reconciliations, and audit support, including AR confirmations, sales tax support, and related schedulesPrepare AR‑related reporting and analysis, including aging trends for management and month‑end reportingMaintain strong internal controls, process documentation, and audit support across AR, payroll, and sales & use tax functionsProvide limited, ongoing helpdesk support for basic IT and system needs during planned absences, coordinating routine system tasks and user requests with internal and external IT partners to ensure continuity of operationsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldProven progressive accounts receivable or general accounting experience (2-3 years)Solid understanding of the full AR cycle, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and reconciliationsExperience supporting month-end close activitiesStrong understanding of GAAP and its application to accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reportingProficiency with ERP and HRIS systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Workday preferredStrong Excel skills and the ability to work with detailed financial dataExcellent organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detailProfessional communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionallyDesired Skills & AttributesStrong ownership mindset with the ability to independently manage core accounting and payroll processes and influence outcomes through partnership and follow‑throughHigh attention to detail and accuracy, paired with a strong sense of accountability for recurring operational cycles and financial integrityComfortable operating in ambiguity, exercising sound judgment to resolve issues, prioritize work, and adjust approach as circumstances evolveProactive problem solver who takes initiative to improve processes, controls, and ways of working within accounting and payrollAbility to balance recurring deadlines (AR, bi‑weekly payroll, month‑end close) with ad‑hoc requests, issue resolution, and special projectsInterest in technology and systems, with a willingness to learn and support process and system improvementsWhy Join SensorexJoin a stable, growing organization where accounting plays a meaningful role in supporting operations, cash flow, and sound financial decision‑makingTake ownership of critical processes within a collaborative, well‑structured finance teamWork in an environment that values accuracy, accountability, and strong internal controls, with opportunities to improve processes and ways of workingBe part of a company that offers broad exposure across accounting functions while maintaining clear scope, support, and work‑life balanceTravel Requirements:MinimalCompensation:Base salary and annual bonus DOE ($80-$90k)Competitive benefits package includes medical, dental, life, disability and 401(K)#LI-KH1 #SensorexNot the right fit?
