An established heavy-manufacturing plant is adding an entry-level maintenance technician to its 2nd-shift team. This is a build-your-trade seat: the tech performs preventive maintenance, basic mechanical and electrical repairs, and inspections alongside senior techs, learning the plant's equipment as they go. Mechanical aptitude and reliability matter more than a long resume - the electrical depth and CMMS can be learned on the job. For someone with hands-on ability looking to break into industrial maintenance, this offers unusually strong entry pay and a clear path up a three-tier maintenance ladder at a stable manufacturer.

• Anticipated $23.80-$30.80/hr, based on experience
• Benefits include: Health, Dental, Vision, 401K w/ match, PTO, holidays
• 2nd shift (evenings), Monday-Friday
• Conversion to union after 60-day probationary period

Overview

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on plant machinery to keep production running
• Inspect equipment and report mechanical or electrical issues before they become breakdowns
• Assist senior techs with mechanical and basic electrical repairs on heavy machinery
• Support new-equipment installs - pulling wire, setting lines, basic conduit
• Learn to isolate basic faults using standard diagnostic tools like a digital multimeter
• Log work in the plant CMMS and learn to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely

Preferred Skills and Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of hands-on maintenance experience - manufacturing, shop, automotive, or mechanical service all count
• Basic familiarity with electrical systems; understanding of 3-phase power is a plus but can be learned on the job
• 1-3 years using hand tools, basic power tools, and mechanical workshop gear
• Basic welding exposure preferred but not required
• Willingness to learn a CMMS and the plant's equipment
