Maintenance TechnicianUnder the supervision and guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor/Planner, this position supports the maintenance organization for performing repairs, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and installations on rotating equipment and support systems. This position involves working in and around operating units as well as shop work. Performs maintenance in all areas of the plant on a scheduled or emergency including call outs. Strong safety culture is a must and adherence to safety policies, plans and requirements is a must. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.Essential Functions:Competently perform machine alignment – pumps, compressors, blowers/fans, etc.Ability to rebuild API, ANSI pumps, compressors, air coolers, steam turbines, gearboxes, etc.Ability to hydro-test equipment and piping systemsOperate pipe threading machines/equipmentAbility to use Oxy/Acetylene welding/cutting equipmentOperate/understand manual and hydraulic bolting equipmentBe trained in or ability to be trained in industrial (forklift) truck, man lifts, etc.Ability to troubleshoot and identify problems and issues with equipmentIdentify and repair problematic parts of a machineBe able to balance rotating assembliesAbility to assist in developing maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures and training materials for rotating equipment.Perform preventative maintenance activities by identifying and correcting potential issues.Adherence to Company procedures, policies and industry standardsPerforms additional tasks and duties as assigned and trainedRequired Skills/Abilities:Safety Awareness: Ability to recognize and identify potential hazards.Must hold a Driver License with excellent driving record and be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screeningAbility to use precision tools to take accurate measurementAbility to understand industrial mathAbility to read blueprints, P&IDs, schematics and manualsAbility to understand piping fabrication and layoutQualified in rigging technics with proper equipment applicationsKnowledge of general carpentry and repairKnowledge of fixed equipment, vessels, towers exchangers and boilersAbility to use hand tools and power toolsCapable of operating manliftExperience in exchanger and bundle extraction and installationGood verbal and written communication skillsBe able to respond to emergency calls as needed including weekend and eveningsMust be available for call outs including weekends, holidays and nightsAbility to interact effectively and positively with all levels of Company personnelBasic understanding of HSSE requirements including confined space entry, lock out/tag out, fall protection, etc.Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detailExcellent organizational, time management skills and attention to detailAbility to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environmentSupervisory Responsibilities:NoneEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent requiredVocational school; or apprenticeship preferred6+ years of experience as a Journeyman6+ years of experience in a refinery environmentPhysical Requirements:Must be able to pass a physical test of pushing, pulling, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbsProlonged periods of standing and walkingPhysical stamina and strength to lift heavy itemsAbility to perform repetitive movements over long periods of timeMust be able to climb ladders and or stairs on tanks, vessels and structures; wear respirator; work around equipment containing high pressures and temperatures and various chemicalsMust be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spacesWear fire-retardant clothing and other personal protective equipment, such as SCBA, steel-toe shoes and ear and eye protectionRequires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring equipment and materialsOther dutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
