Principal EngineerWells Fargo is seeking a talented Principal Engineer with experience overseeing governance for an enterprise-class on-premises virtualization platform. In this role you will be tasked as a technical leader to guide multiple teams of engineers to design solutions that reduce risk and ensure compliancy within policy and standards.In this role, you will:Lead in high level technical concepts spanning technology and businessEnsure engineering teams deliver solutions that comply with policy and standardsDevelop specifications for complex infrastructure systems, design and test solutionsContribute to the testing of business, applications and technical infrastructure requirementsDrive solutions to reduce recovery time of outagesReview and analyze solutions for security, secrets management and key rotationsDesign complex system upgrades using best practicesIdentify and resolve troublesome trends as they developDevelop a long-range plan designed to resolve problems and prevent them from recurringDirect the daily risk and control flow of operations, focusing on policies, procedures and work standards to ensure successCollaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goalsCollaborate with product owners to develop a comprehensive roadmap for products and services being offeredCollaborate with peers to define and prioritize backlogsCollaborate across teams and departments to align technical efforts with goalsMake recommendations to leadership concerning priority of deliverablesPartner with vendors to evaluate new product offeringsMake recommendations to management on vendor product offeringsInfluence technical culture and promote best practices, quality, and efficient executionMediate technical conflicts to resolve complex escalationsAnalyze and make recommendations of capacity needs for the infrastructureServe as a subject matter expert for all product offerings and servicesProvide high-level architectural decisions and establish technical standardsIdentify opportunities to reuse technology avoiding duplicationCommunicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesParticipate in hiring and building high-performing engineering teamsMentor, train, and foster growth within the engineering teamsOversee the technical aspects of projects from conception to completion, ensuring quality and alignment with goalsRequired Qualifications:7+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent, demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education7+ years of Distributed Infrastructure and/or related IT Infrastructure experience7+ years of experience working with products related to the Automation of Virtualization, Server Infrastructure, Converged/Hyper-Converged hosting, or Software Defined Networking.Desired Qualifications:Experience with Hypervisors: VMware, Nutanix, Red Hat OpenShift VirtualizationExperience with software defined networks and load balancers: NSX, AVIExperience with Kubernetes or OpenShift container platformsExperience with public cloud infrastructure: AWS, Google Cloud, or AzureScripting and/or automation experience: Python, Ansible, PowerShellOperating Systems Knowledge: Windows, LinuxExperience leading or supporting the design, evaluation, and implementation of complex infrastructure hosting solutions and capabilities.Experience working in agile product teams in a highly regulated financial services industry.Experience with converged and/or hyper-converged infrastructure solutions at-scale in a large enterprise.Experience with virtualization and virtual hosting technologies and administration.Experience mentoring high-performing engineers.Experience with taking software/hardware products and services from inception to customer delivery.Experience transforming to and/or managing infrastructure functions in a product model construct, which would include participation in product roadmap planning and feature/backlog prioritization.Languages: Python, bash, PowerShell and integrating with API'sSkilled in automation to include familiarity with VMWare Aria/VRA, Nutanix Calm, OpenShift Virtualization, NSX, Ansible, Terraform, and other similar products.Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code delivery and management.Familiarity with Cloud hosting concepts and operating models.Expert knowledge and understanding of technologies related to infrastructure engineering.Ability to help remediate tough technical support issues.Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.Strong organizational skills.Ability to work
