Volunteer Coordinator (AmeriCorps)

Kid Power Inc

Position Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator Service Member plays a pivotal role in bridging the DC & MoCo community with our mentoring and enrichment programs serving middle and high school youth. The Volunteer Coordinator Service Member supports the recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of adult volunteers who serve in Kid Power's mentoring and enrichment programs. Key responsibilities include representing Kid Power at community events, fostering strong connections and partnerships, and providing essential support to program operations. We are seeking a dedicated coordinator who is passionate about youth development and community building, and ready to make a significant difference in the lives of DC's youth. It is an opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of young people while also building your resume, strengthening your leadership skills, and developing meaningful professional networks.

About Kid Power: At Kid Power, youth ignite their confidence and build the skills to thrive academically, strengthen their social-emotional wellness, and advocate for themselves and their communities. Founded in 2002, Kid Power is a community-rooted nonprofit that empowers over 1,000 youth annually across Washington, DC and Montgomery County. With an annual budget of $2.2 million, our evidence-based programs focus on academic confidence, social-emotional wellness, and civic leadership. We value collaboration, community-building, and youth voice in everything we do.

Schedule: This full-time position requires 40 hours per week during Kid Power Program Operations, with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 6 PM. To effectively engage with our community, evening and occasional weekend hours are essential. As a hybrid role, you will work a minimum of 2 days per week in person, with additional in-person community activities as needed to fulfill your responsibilities. This flexible schedule allows you to immerse yourself in both office and community environments, ensuring you can make a meaningful impact.

This AmeriCorps service term runs from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027. Position availability is contingent upon funding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the development team to showcase Mentoring & Enrichment programming on the web, including social media platforms.
  • Provide additional program support as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support recruitment, intake and engagement efforts for youth and families as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist occasionally with development tasks and collaborate across departments to achieve common goals.
  • Attend special events (family engagement events, fundraisers, etc.) to support Kid Power's initiatives.
  • Participate regularly in various Kid Power meetings to stay informed and contribute to organizational success.
