Civil Stormwater Project Manager - Lead Urban Resilience Projects

You design and deliver stormwater systems that actually work in the real world – in dense, urban environments with real risk on the line.

In this role, you’ll lead planning and detailed design for pipelines, open channels, pump stations, channel stabilization, storage and treatment facilities, multi-benefit projects, and other key conveyance measures serving major public and private clients.

You’ll shape strategy for stormwater growth and innovation, expand the firm’s presence in the LA stormwater market, and be the face of high-impact projects with agencies, municipalities, utilities, and industry partners.

What You'll Work On

You’ll be at the center of complex urban water and stormwater challenges:

• Urban stormwater management planning and design
• Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis for stormwater systems
• Stormwater conveyance: pipelines, open channels, pump stations
• Channel stabilization and flood risk mitigation
• Storage and treatment facilities for stormwater
• Multi-benefit stormwater and water resources projects
• Planning, design, and construction support for stormwater facilities
• Integration of stormwater projects with broader water resources efforts

You’ll collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, designers, and scientists to deliver integrated, resilient solutions.

Your core challenge: turn complex hydrology and hydraulics into buildable, multi-benefit urban stormwater projects.

What You'll Be Doing

• Expanding the firm’s presence in the local Los Angeles stormwater market
• Developing and executing targeted business development strategies
• Growing and deepening specific client relationships in the stormwater sector
• Participating in select professional society activities to elevate market visibility
• Collaborating with stormwater leads across the company on growth and innovation strategy
• Managing planning and detailed design projects for stormwater management facilities
• Leading production and quality of contract documents, including plan sets and specifications
• Performing or directing hydraulic and hydrologic calculations and analyses
• Preparing technical reports and documentation to support planning, design, and construction
• Coordinating design efforts for pipelines, open channels, pump stations, and storage/treatment facilities
• Leading teams to deliver solutions for complex urban stormwater management challenges
• Collaborating with engineers, designers, and scientists to support specific project assignments

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Agricultural, or other appropriate engineering major
• 10+ years of experience related to stormwater and water resources projects
• At least 5 years managing a team delivering planning and design for urban stormwater challenges
• Minimum 5 years of client service and business development, including positioning, proposals, interviews, and technical presentations
• Familiarity with stormwater analysis tools such as HEC-RAS (1D/2D), HEC-HMS, ICM, FLO-2D, XPSWMM, ArcGIS, and Civil 3D
• Experience selecting and optimizing multi-benefit urban stormwater projects
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including group presentations
• Proven team-building skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
• Ability to apply critical thinking to complex technical and project challenges
• Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

You’ve owned stormwater and water resources projects from the early planning stages through detailed design and construction support, especially in urban environments. You’re comfortable sitting in front of clients, leading interviews and presentations, and turning relationships into real work.

You pair strong technical depth in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with a proven track record of building and leading teams. You know how to identify and advance multi-benefit projects that align community, regulatory, and infrastructure goals. Experience with FEMA floodplain work is a strong plus.

Important Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline is required.
