Senior Scrap Metal Trader (Non-Ferrous | USA Export Focus)
\nLocation: USA (Houston / East Coast preferred)
\nSalary: $Negotiable + performance-based commission
\n \nImperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a global metals trading group to identify an experienced Non-Ferrous Scrap Trader focused on procurement and export from the United States.
\n \nOur client is a well-established international trading house with a strong footprint in global scrap flows. Due to continued growth and increasing export demand, they are seeking a commercially driven trader with an existing network across US recycling yards and suppliers.
\n \nThe Role
\nThis is a front-office trading position focused on sourcing non-ferrous scrap materials from the US domestic market for export via container shipments to international destinations.
\nYou will be responsible for building and managing supplier relationships, negotiating purchases, and coordinating export volumes while maintaining margin performance.
\n \nKey Responsibilities

- Procure non-ferrous metal scrap from US-based recycling companies and suppliers \n
- Manage end-to-end trading cycle including sourcing, pricing, negotiation, and export execution \n
- Handle consistent monthly volumes of 2,000–3,000 metric tonnes (minimum) for export \n
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with scrap yards, processors, and aggregators \n
- Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and arbitrage opportunities \n
- Work closely with logistics teams to ensure smooth containerised shipments \n
- Drive profitability through strategic buying and sales execution \n
Requirements

- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in scrap metal trading (non-ferrous essential) \n
- Proven track record in export-focused trading from the USA \n
- Strong existing network within US recycling and scrap supply markets \n
- Demonstrated ability to handle 2,000–3,000 MT/month export volumes (mandatory) \n
- Deep understanding of global scrap flows, pricing dynamics, and container logistics \n
- Commercially driven with strong negotiation skills \n
- Experience working with or competing against major scrap exporters is highly desirable \n
Compensation

- Base salary: $Negotiable (depending on experience and current employer) \n

Additional Information
\nWe are particularly interested in profiles currently working with established scrap exporters and trading houses operating in the US market, with a focus on containerised exports.
