Accountant II

Job TitleSupport the Assistant Plant Controller in financial and cost accounting functions. Work with internal and external financial reporting, and analysis of manufacturing and financial results for a large manufacturing company.Role and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for reconciling and preparing journal entries in areas including but not limited to payroll, inventory, inter-company and eliminations, as well as completing and documenting the corresponding account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.Participate in monthly accounting closing activities and reconciliations, investigate unusual or unexpected results and resolve discrepanciesRoutinely monitor daily shipping and invoicing activity which is an internal control to verify all shipments have been invoiced timely, in the correct accounting period and for reasonable amounts.Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset ledger, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedulesIdentify opportunities and participate in implementing improvements in business or accounting processes and controlsKey team member involved with planning, organizing, coordinating and participating in the annual physical inventory and reconciliationsPrepare schedules and provide support for financial audits and other routine reporting requirementsWork independently or assist other employees in investigating and handling new or unusual accounting related transactions and solving issuesAssist or lead in analysis, special projects or other work as requestedQualifications and Education RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting, or related field2 - 5+ years of accounting experience, including some in a manufacturing environmentProficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, data analysis, and pivot tables, along with other Microsoft Office toolsSkills and AbilitiesStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environmentDemonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively to identify, analyze, and resolve issuesHighly detail-oriented with solid accounting knowledge and critical thinking abilitiesAbility to build and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organizationExcellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skillsEmployee BenefitsHealth, Dental and Vision InsuranceLife, and Disability Insurances401(k) planPaid vacation and holiday timeHealth and wellness programsImportant NotesNLMK is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
