Chemistry & Biochemistry – Part‑Time Lecturer Pool Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry Position: Part‑Time Lecturer Pool The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. The pool will supply instructors as needed. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments are temporary and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in Chemistry and/or Biochemistry. Work with diverse students, providing an inclusive learning environment. Required Qualifications An advanced (Masters, ABD, PhD, or EdD) degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. Prior university‑level teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students. Preferred Qualifications Research and teaching experience in chemistry or biochemistry. Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Relevant performance and professional experience. Appointment and Salary All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Classification range: $5,507‑$6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range: $5,507‑$6,221 per month, not to exceed $6,221 per month. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester. Payments are made in six equal monthly payments per semester. Appointment Date and Academic Calendar Part‑time faculty are most needed in the Fall and Spring semesters. Fall begins late August and ends mid‑December; Spring runs from mid‑January to end of May. Occasionally part‑time faculty are needed during summer sessions. Performance Evaluation Regular performance evaluations are conducted by the department in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future assignments. In some instances, syllabi, assignments, and reading materials may be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee. Mandated Reporter The holder of this position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083. Background Check Appointees must complete a satisfactory background check. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background screening as required under CSU policy.
