Purchasing AgentSegers Aero Corporation located in Fairhope, AL is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team. We offer a competitive benefits package and a 9/80 work schedule that includes every other Friday off.Purpose of PositionTo purchase and schedule delivery of materials on time and coordinate movements within the ERP system throughout logistics and into production.Essential FunctionsResearches and evaluates new vendorsEnhances vendor relationshipsEstablishes payment terms with vendorsReviews requisitions for goods and servicesPlaces orders for consumable materials, services, and inventory parts: monitors and expedites ordersResponsible for completing tasks and projects within the scheduled timeframe and meeting department deadlinesPurchases the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in the correct quantitiesVerifies available funds with Finance on pre-paid ordersMonitors shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and proper certification receivedRequests RMA's on defective materialMaintains and reviews records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, and inventoriesWorks closely with Sales, Production, Logistics, and FinanceAssists in quoting material for in-house projects and sales solicitationsTravels as requiredConfers with manager to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of department and promote improvement.Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely mannerWorks when scheduled and complies with company attendance policyObserves and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (Safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)Works overtime as neededOther duties as assignedSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesMust be at least 18 years old or older.Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictionsDemonstrated time, priority, and stress management skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisorsMust be able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiativeMust be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situationsMust be able to apply common senseMust have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in EnglishMust have intermediate Microsoft computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) and the ability to learn and be proficient in company-specific software.Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphsMust be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPEMust be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionallyMust be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lensesMust be able to hear running machineryMust be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitivelyMust have exceptional eye-hand coordinationMust regularly be able to reach overheadMust regularly be able to squat, bend, twist and standMust be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionallyMarginal FunctionsOther duties as assignedExperience and Education Requirements:Must be at least 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED is required.Two (2) years of experience working with ERP systems is required.Two (2) years of purchasing experience required.Two (2) years of experience working in an aviation, industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.Strong knowledge and / or experience in inventory control is highly preferred.Previous experience with vendor / supplier management is preferred.Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.Work Conditions:Generally works in an office environment.
