Columbia River Fishery Sampler (Biological Science Assistant)

Position Overview Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), Ocean Salmon & Columbia River Program (OSCRP). Location: Astoria, Oregon. Two seasonal positions for July27,2026–October31,2026 (dates may vary). Salary: $3,515–$4,124 per week (non–PERS) with 6.95% additional for PERS qualifiers. Responsibilities Collect catch and effort data from recreational fisheries on the lower Columbia River. Collect information on commercial fisheries. Participate in commercial fishery monitoring, test fishing, hatchery sampling, coded‑wire tag recovery, and tagging projects. Qualifications / Preferred Experience Experience collecting and recording data. Experience collecting biological samples. Experience identifying adult fish species, especially salmonids. Field survey experience. Boating experience; must obtain a Boater Education Certificate within 30 days. Current pursuit or possession of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related biological/ecological sciences degree. Benefits 11 paid holidays per year. Competitive benefits package.
