Position Summary

The Activities Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and leading recreational, educational, and social programs that enhance the quality of life for residents. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, and passionate about creating engaging activities that foster connection, wellness, and community involvement.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning & Coordination

• Develop and maintain a monthly calendar of engaging activities and events.
• Plan recreational, educational, wellness, and holiday programs for residents.
• Coordinate special events, guest speakers, entertainers, and community outings.
• Ensure activities meet the interests and needs of residents.

Resident Engagement

• Encourage resident participation and build positive relationships.
• Evaluate resident interests and adapt programming accordingly.
• Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and engaging environment.
• Promote resident independence, socialization, and overall well-being.

Event Management

• Organize supplies, materials, and event logistics.
• Maintain activity spaces and equipment.
• Coordinate volunteers and community partners as needed.
• Assist with decorating for seasonal events and celebrations.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate attendance records and activity documentation.
• Manage the activities budget and inventory of supplies.
• Ensure programs comply with company policies and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with other departments to support resident needs and community initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in activities, recreation, event planning, senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to lead group activities and motivate participation.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays for scheduled events.

Preferred

• Experience in senior living, assisted living, rehabilitation, or healthcare settings.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience coordinating volunteer programs or community partnerships.
• Creative mindset with strong event planning skills.
