Diesel Technician

Position Description Mid‑Level Diesel Technician – Greenville, South Carolina. Hourly pay $27.50, weekly pay, plus bonuses and benefits. Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour Certification Bonus: up to $700 for new ASE certifications Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 after 30 days and $1,250 after 90 days Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday Hours: Second Shift Tuesday‑Friday, 2:30 pm–11:00 pm; Saturday 2:30 pm–11:00 pm Benefits Medical, dental, vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training to build skills State‑of‑the‑art equipment and safety‑first workplace Top‑tech competition: earn $250 – $50,000 per year Extra paid day off for U.S. military veterans 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tuition repayment for tech courses 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational, technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred) Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including: Routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work (required) Two or more years of classroom training and/or work experience in required fields (preferred) Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Position requires driving Ryder vehicles; must: Obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including verification for last 3 years Important Note: Some positions require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle record checks, road tests, and/or customer‑specific background or badging requirements. Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections Carry out preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers when applicable Identify root cause of basic failures and perform necessary repairs Replace defective components as instructed Execute facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints when assigned tasks Use shop management system and electronic documentation tools Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required, such as Service Island support Ryder is a proud Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug‑free workplace.
