Solmax is a company dedicated to maintaining and analyzing the financial integrity of general ledger, subsystems, and manufacturing data related to inventory. This Cost Accountant I position is crucial for upholding accurate financial records, supporting the forecasting and budgeting processes, and contributing to identifying opportunities for cost improvement across operations. The TL;DR Role: Early Career Type: Full-time Mission: Owns the integrity of manufacturing and inventory financial data and assists in identifying cost improvement opportunities. Tech Stack: PC operations, Windows applications, Excel What You’ll Actually Do Manage Standard Costing: Maintain the standard cost system for all manufactured products, ensuring accuracy and consistency in cost allocation. Oversee Inventory Accounting: Monitor and finalize manufacturing work orders into inventory, ensuring proper accounting for product flow and valuation. Perform General Ledger Reconciliation: Review, correct, and reconcile various general ledger accounts, specifically managing those associated with inventory and balancing them with inventory subsystems across multiple plants. Analyze Cost Variances: Manage and account for various reserves and expenses, including purchase price variance, standard revaluation, usage variances, and overhead variances. Support Financial Reporting & Planning: Prepare necessary journal entries, schedules, and reports for monthly operating report outs, and assist in preparing audit schedules and the annual budget. The Must-Haves Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, establishing a strong foundation in general accounting principles and practices. Experience: 2-3 years of experience in accounting, with a specific background in manufacturing and standard cost accounting.
