The State of Connecticut, Department of Children and Families (DCF) is recruiting one Psychologist (Clinical) to join our mental healthcare team at the Albert J. Solnit Psychiatric Center – South Campus in Middletown, CT. Position Highlights Location: On‑site position within the Passaic Hospital Unit of Solnit South Shift: Full‑time, first shift, 40 hours per week Schedule: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Monday‑Friday with one late‑night 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (specific day to be determined) PCN#44832 Benefits and Balance State Employee Retirement System A variety of medical and dental plans Sick and personal leave Eligibility for Public Services Loan Forgiveness after 10 years of service Your Role As a Psychologist with DCF, you will provide clinical services including psychological testing, group therapy, individual and group psychotherapy, behavior management, discharge planning, and clinical consultative services for complex cases. You will manage an individual caseload of 3–4 youth, conduct both individual and family therapy, and perform psychological assessments with associated report writing during a 40‑hour work week. Examples of Duties Participate in and coordinate clinical psychological services for a complex ward or group of wards staffed by psychiatric, nursing, or other personnel Provide consultation on difficult cases involving complex intellectual, emotional, and/or social problems Engage in diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services Attend staff meetings Coordinate psychological treatment modalities with other disciplines and services Develop and implement new service programs Conduct research and report findings for professional publication Consult with community agencies and organizations Conduct training sessions for interns and staff and may participate in training of psychiatric residents Address lay and professional groups as needed Perform related duties as required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of abnormal and clinical psychology Skill in selection, administration, scoring, and evaluation of intelligence, achievement, personality, and diagnostic tests Knowledge of psychological research methodology, including experimental design, data analysis, and application of findings Knowledge of other psychological disciplines Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Ability to make clinical diagnoses, prognoses, and develop treatment plans Ability to conduct psychotherapy Ability to write case histories, discharge summaries, and professional reports Ability to coordinate clinical services with comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment plans Minimum Qualifications A doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology and one year of post‑doctoral experience as a psychologist working under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with adolescents in psychiatric inpatient settings Experience working with multicultural and diverse populations Experience supervising graduate‑level psychology students Experience conducting comprehensive fire‑setting, problematic sexual behavior, and/or violence risk psychological evaluations Experience conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations of children and adolescents Special Requirements Must possess and retain a license to practice psychology in Connecticut (except for employees hired prior to July1,1985 with a title in the Psychology series) Must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S.C.§ 1320a‑7b(f) May be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in the use of American Sign Language May be required to travel Working Conditions Incumbents may be required to lift and restrain individuals, may be exposed to communicable diseases and risk of injury from assaultive or abusive individuals, and may encounter disagreeable conditions.
