Hospital Food & Nutrition Services 

We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Host/Hostess to join our hospital Food & Nutrition Services team. This position is responsible for assisting with patient meal service, delivering meals and snacks, communicating patient food needs, and helping ensure patients receive appropriate and timely nutrition services.

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver patient meal trays during scheduled meal service.
• Deliver snacks and nutritional supplements to patients as ordered, including scheduled deliveries throughout the day.
• Visit patients to introduce Food & Nutrition Services and obtain food preferences or dislikes when needed.
• Ensure patient diet orders and appropriate menu selections are followed.
• Communicate patient food needs and concerns to the appropriate department.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, Nursing Services, and Food & Nutrition Services.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and follow up on any delays or food availability concerns.
• Deliver early or late patient trays as needed in a timely manner.
• Ensure meals are delivered to patients promptly and according to established meal service schedules.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards by completing assigned cleaning duties.
• Restock pantries, refrigerators, and freezers on assigned units.
• Maintain temperature logs for unit refrigerators and freezers.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Maintain patient privacy, safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
• Follow all hospital safety, sanitation, and food service procedures.
• Review therapeutic diets using established guidelines.
• Assist with training or mentoring new Host/Hostess employees when assigned.
• Identify customer service concerns and address them appropriately or report them to a supervisor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write English.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Must be professional, dependable, and comfortable working in a hospital environment.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact professionally with patients, visitors, nurses, and other hospital staff.
