We supply the Southeast United States and neighboring islands with a wide variety of high-quality annuals, perennials, succulents, mums, poinsettias, tropicals, Veggies and roses. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Head Grower to lead our growing operation and help us continue to grow.

The Head Grower will have a key leadership role in the success of our plant production operation. This position oversees crops from propagation and planting through development, finishing, and preparation for shipment. The ideal candidate is an experienced horticulture or greenhouse professional who understands how to produce high-quality crops efficiently, can identify and solve crop problems, and enjoys leading a team in a fast-paced agricultural environment. • Develop and manage crop production plans based on seasonal schedules, forecasts, and customer demand.
\n
• Lead all aspects of crop production, including propagation, planting, transplanting, watering, fertilization, pruning, spacing, and crop maintenance.
\n
• Monitor crop health and quickly identify diseases, pests, nutrient deficiencies, environmental stress, and other growing issues.
\n
• Establish and maintain appropriate irrigation, fertility, temperature, humidity, lighting, and overall growing conditions.
\n
• Develop and coordinate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.
\n
• Work with agricultural professionals and other specialists when necessary to address crop issues.
\n
• Maintain accurate records related to crop development, treatments, fertilizer applications, irrigation, labor, yields, and production performance.
\n
• Conduct regular crop inspections to ensure plants meet quality, size, appearance, and production standards.
\n
• Lead, train, schedule, and develop farm and greenhouse employees.
\n
• Coordinate daily production activities with maintenance, shipping, management, and other operational teams.
\n
• Manage crop timing to ensure plants are finished and ready for sale according to production schedules.
\n
• Monitor inventory of fertilizers, growing media, pesticides, irrigation supplies, tools, and other production materials.
\n
• Assist with production budgets and identify opportunities to control costs without compromising crop quality.
\n
• Promote safe work practices and ensure employees follow company safety procedures and proper agricultural practices.
\n
• Maintain clean, organized, and efficient greenhouses and growing areas.
\n
• Oversee the proper operation and maintenance of greenhouse and agricultural equipment.
\n
• Investigate crop problems, implement corrective actions, and develop strategies to reduce future crop losses.
\n
• Communicate crop conditions, production progress, labor requirements, and potential issues to farm management.
\n

• Several years of commercial experience in plant production, horticulture, greenhouse production, agriculture, or a related field.
\n
• Strong understanding of plant biology, irrigation, fertilization, plant nutrition, pest management, and crop production.
\n
• Hands-on experience managing crops in greenhouse and/or outdoor growing environments.
\n
• Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
\n
• Strong ability to identify plant diseases, pests, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stresses.
\n
• Excellent organization, communication, and record-keeping skills.
\n
• Ability to work effectively in both greenhouse and outdoor agricultural environments.
\n
• Comfortable working in physically demanding conditions, including extended periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying.
\n
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
\n
• Pesticide applicator certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain required certification.
