Staff Accountant

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a growing, acquisition-driven construction and project-based services organization to identify a Staff Accountant to join their team. This individual is responsible for supporting the daily accounting and financial reporting functions while ensuring accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, assisting with job costing, and helping maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP. Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjusting entries. Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Maintain general ledger account integrity and supporting documentation. Support job costing activities for installation, service, and inspection work. Track labor, materials, and expenses by job or contract. Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition, as applicable. Collaborate with operations and project teams to resolve job cost discrepancies. Prepare standard financial reports and schedules for management review. Assist with variance analysis and financial trend reporting. Support budgeting and forecasting processes as assigned. Provide audit support and documentation as needed. Assist with sales tax, use tax, and other regulatory reporting as required. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a service-based or construction-related industry. Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Sage Intacct preferred.
