Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery Technical Coordinator

Under the general direction of the Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery Supervisor and Chief of Service, provide administrative coordination and technical support to the Soft Tissue Surgery Service. The primary focus of this position will be to serve as a Technical Coordinator, facilitating the referral, scheduling, and coordination of Soft Tissue Surgery patients. Responsibilities include coordinating and scheduling patient appointments and procedures; communicating with clients in person, by phone, and via email; obtaining, organizing, and uploading patient medical records; communicating with referring veterinarians; and coordinating consultations and patient care with various services throughout the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH). This position will also provide paraveterinary technical support to Soft Tissue Surgery and the Operating Rooms as needed. Technical responsibilities include assisting with the daily receiving and coordination of outpatient and drop-off appointments, patient restraint and handling, carrying out prescribed treatments and medication administration, assisting with patient care and procedures, and circulating within the operating room. The position requires strong communication, organization, and customer service skills, as well as the ability to coordinate multiple patient and service needs while working collaboratively with clients, clinicians, students, technicians, referring veterinarians, and other VMTH services.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position Must possess a valid Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 3 months of date of hire. No minimum education required. Experience working in a Small Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician, veterinary assistant or client service representative. Experience with animal restraint and blood draws. Experience communicating with clients and referring DVM. Interpersonal communication and customer services skills to clearly and effectively interact with individuals of varying ages, cultural backgrounds, perspectives to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, make referrals, and interact with the general public in a helpful and positive manner. Preferred Qualifications Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). Experience positioning and preparing patients for various surgical procedures using aseptic technique. Strong organizational skills.
