Job Title: RN Surgical PCU (Vent Experience Required) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: Up to 26 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year preferred License: Active RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - EPIC experience required - Ventilator care for chronic trach patients - Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management - IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care - Medication administration, including cardiac drips (no titration) Description: This position is for an RN in a surgical progressive care unit with experience in ventilator management. Shift hours are 4x12s, typically from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Charting will require EPIC experience. Weekend commitment may include every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week schedule. All requests for time off must be included with the application. The facility may call off one shift every two weeks. Minimum requirement is to work one holiday during a 13-week contract. This role accepts first-time travelers and locals within specific radius criteria. Pending licenses may be accepted if from a non-compact state, but an active state license is preferred. Required clinical skills include: - Cardiac monitoring and emergency response - IV therapy and central line care - Medication management, including cardiac drips - Non-invasive airway management like CPAP and BiPAP - Isolation precautions and telemetry settings The unit typically maintains a staff-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with a goal of 1:4. Floating within skill set may be required. The work environment includes a supportive interdisciplinary team from various specialties. Patient demographics primarily include adults with surgical needs and conditions requiring specialized care. Specialized procedures frequently include monitoring for specific medical conditions. This position requires adaptability to changing patient circumstances and a strong emphasis on patient safety and quality care.
