Contract job opportunity. Potential for perm. Position: Phlebotomist 4700 Location: Austin TX Schedule: 8am - 5pm M-F Projected duration: 3 months + potential for perm Job code: CVDJP00034700 Pay rate: $30 to $33 per hour depending on experience Benefits are available Must have pediatric experience Must have experience with hard sticks Description Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required; demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understands all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% correct, and packages specimens for transport. Stores specimen samples according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocol to maintain specimen integrity during transport; understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department trainings. Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience (in addition to the 6‑month requirement). #J-18808-Ljbffr
