The Fire Sprinkler Operations / Service Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operational performance of the Fire Sprinkler Department , including inspections, service, repairs, and installations.

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure field technicians are properly scheduled, prepared, supported, and held accountable for completing work safely, efficiently, and professionally.

This manager will work closely with Scheduling Coordinators to ensure the right technician and appropriate amount of time are assigned to each job and with Sales to ensure the scope of work is clearly understood before it reaches the field. They are responsible for ensuring technicians understand their assignments and have properly reviewed their materials, equipment, and job requirements before scheduled work.

The manager will serve as the first line of management for field and customer issues , prioritizing concerns based on life safety, system impairment, urgency, and customer impact. Issues should be handled professionally, productively, and without unnecessary confrontation, with significant concerns escalated to the General Manager when appropriate.

The Role Also Includes

• Technician Leadership – Delegate work, set expectations, coach technicians, address performance concerns, and identify training needs.
• Job Readiness – Identify manpower, material, equipment, access, and coordination needs before work begins.
• Quality & Compliance – Maintain standards for workmanship, inspections, documentation, safety, and code compliance.
• Sales Coordination – Help resolve scope questions and prevent disconnects between what was sold and what is expected in the field.
• Interdepartmental Coordination – Work with Fire Alarm and other department leaders when projects require multiple disciplines.
• Customer Service – Address customer concerns, complaints, scheduling issues, and scope questions through resolution.
• Workload Management – Maintain awareness of department scheduling, backlog, staffing needs, and operational priorities.
• Management Communication – Meet regularly with the General Manager and communicate significant personnel, customer, staffing, and operational concerns.

Required Qualifications

• NICET Level II certification in the applicable sprinkler discipline.
• Current applicable Virginia DPOR certification
• Strong commercial fire sprinkler inspection, service, repair, and installation knowledge.
• Strong leadership, organization, delegation, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and remain productive and professional under pressure.
