Biomechanics Associate (Ph.D.) Location: Austin, TX Position Type: Full‑time, On‑site We are seeking a Biomechanics Associate to join our Biomechanics Practice in Austin, TX. The role involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team and supporting senior consultants on biomechanics consulting projects that analyze human injury in real‑world and simulated events. Tasks include detailed analysis of the human body's response to accelerations, forces, and bending moments generated during incidents, assessment of contributing conditions, and evaluation of potential injury mitigation strategies. Responsibilities Review and summarize technical and non‑technical materials, such as police reports, medical records, legal pleadings, expert reports, deposition testimony, photographs, vehicle specifications, design drawings, and other documentation. Research and review relevant scientific journals, publications, and test data. Analyze and synthesize biomechanical information involving kinematics, dynamics, mechanisms of injury, and human tolerance. Communicate findings through presentations and written reports, generating documents and reviewing the work of others for factual, technical, and editorial accuracy. Synthesize technical information into accessible formats suitable for both technical and non‑technical audiences. Handle sensitive projects involving confidential material and documentation of severe injuries with professionalism and respect. Manage projects with effective cost control, track progress and budgets, and interact with stakeholders. Assist in research, publication of reports and papers in technical journals, and presentation of findings at meetings and conferences. Participate actively in the Biomechanics Practice and contribute to marketing the group’s technical capabilities to clients and the scientific community. Skills and Qualifications Ph.D. in Biomechanics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship required. Passion for science communication and critical analysis. Outstanding written communication skills and a detail‑oriented eye. Experience presenting complex information to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Hands‑on experience evaluating human tissue biomechanics with laboratory or computational methods and knowledge of human or animal anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of computational modeling methods for analyzing biomechanical response to forces is valued but not required. Interest and eligibility to obtain a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. Effective leadership skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of professionals, including engineers, scientists, managers, attorneys, and administrative staff. Compensation Base salary range will be determined based on experience and capabilities during the interview process. Total compensation includes base salary, bi‑weekly bonuses for high‑intensity efforts, an annual bonus, and a 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
