Assistant QA ManagerThe Assistant QA Manager is responsible for assisting the QA manager in daily operations with leadership and direction of a globally diverse Quality Assurance team in the delivery of internal and external quality assurance services, in support of one or more business units to ensure timely delivery of high quality deliverables.Essential Functions:Manages and leads the Quality Assurance Team setting goals and priorities in conjunction with the QA managerResearches, develops, implements all HACCP, GMP, SSOP and prerequisite programs required for the plantDevelops and implements procedures and checks to ensure quality and wholesomeness to all customers while following all local, state, and federal requirements as well as BRC requirementsReadies the plant for all quality and food safety auditsUSDA liaisonHelp to support the enforcement of company policies and customer requirementsHelp to facilitate and develop programs to enhance food safety and securityComputer skills requiredPerforms many monthly auditsTrain and develop QA teamStrive to accomplish established goals and set priorities for Quality Assurance and Janitorial departmentsEnforce local, state, and federal regulatory requirementsUnderstand and support all HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and prerequisite programs required for plant operationsSupport all certification programsAssist in preparing facility and personnel for all quality and food safety auditsProvide training to janitors, QA staff, production employees and management as neededConduct monthly food safety and quality assurance checks and auditsMaintain accurate digital records – computer skills requiredDevelop an in-depth knowledge of plant processing, product developmentWork with QA and production to minimize and address customer complaintsTechnical support for company regarding laws and regulations pertaining to food safety and USDA proceduresIn depth knowledge of plant processing and product developmentIn charge of food safety, legality and qualityAll other duties as assignedCompetency Statement(s):Accountability – Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actionsResponsible – Ability to be held accountable or answerable for one's conductCommunication, Oral – Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken wordSafety Awareness – Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safetyResource Management (People & Equipment) – Ability to obtain and appropriate the proper usage of equipment, facilities, materials, as well as personnelCommunication, Written – Ability to communicate in writing clearly and conciselyEthical – Ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standardsHonesty/Integrity – Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplaceCoaching and Development – Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help othersSkills & Abilities:Experience: Seven years minimum in food business preferably poultry or meatComputer Skills: Basic understanding of Microsoft Office preferredPhysical Demands:Lift/Carry C (Constantly)Stand C (Constantly)Walk C (Constantly)Sit F (Frequently)Handling / Fingering F (Frequently)Reach Outward F (Frequently)Reach Above Shoulder O (Occasionally)Climb N (Not Applicable)Crawl N (Not Applicable)Squat or Kneel O (Occasionally)Bend O (Occasionally)10 lbs or less O (Occasionally)11-20 lbs O (Occasionally)21-50 lbs O (Occasionally)51-100 lbs N (Not Applicable)Over 100 lbs N (Not Applicable)Push/Pull 12 lbs or less O (Occasionally)13-25 lbs O (Occasionally)26-40 lbs N (Not Applicable)41-100 lbs N (Not Applicable)Other Physical Requirements:Vision (Near, Distance)Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Bump cap, earplugs, safety glasses)Benefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee discountHealth insuranceLife insuranceVision insuranceWork Location: In person
