Sr. Financial Analyst

Senior Financial AnalystPosition Summary: The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for underwriting renewal projections on various group sizes, building premium equivalents, self-insured feasibility, contribution analysis, plan evaluations, and handling other analytic requests as needed. Aiming to help educate our producers, account management, and clients in understanding their benefits programs, renewals, and provide negotiation points to justify lower renewals.Tasks:Evaluates the financial risk of medical & ancillary benefits for clients and prospective clientsProficiently communicates with internal/external customers using web-based toolsUses group experience and demographic analysis to drive future strategies such as plan changes, stop loss levels, funding changes, & contributionsCreates RFPs for carriers and manages the financial part of the renewalEvaluates and explains financial analyses to internal benefit analysts/producersPresents explanation of financial analyses/strategies to external clientsSpecific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Underwriting experience required* (preferably with Large group experience)Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, Formulas, Charts, Graphs, Pivot Tables)Excellent knowledge of multiple types of health plan funding arrangementsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExceptional organizational and multitasking skillsUnderstanding of the client/broker/carrier relationshipProven experience with time management in various positionsProficiency in a variety of computer applications, as well as CRM Data entry systemsDemonstrated dedication to providing superior customer service and gaining client loyaltyProficiency in mentoring, training, and presentation skillsCore Competencies:Ability to Analyze and Solve ProblemsAttention to DetailCommunication SkillsTimely Task CompletionTeam CollaborationClient FocusDependabilityCreative ThinkingOrganizational SkillsAdaptabilityExperience and Education:Undergraduate degree desired but not required5+ years industry-specific experience Underwriting/Experience rating background required with understanding of all funding arrangements (fully insured, level-funded, self-funded) (preferably with large group experience)Licensing and Credentials: Willing to acquire licensing as neededSystems: Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and various AI models (helpful)Physical Requirements:Ability to lift 25 poundsRepeated use of sight to read documents and computer screensRepeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone and in personRepetitive hand movements, such as keyboarding, writing, 10-keyWalking, bending, sitting, reaching and stretching in all directionsNotice to Recruiters and Staffing Agencies: To protect the interests of all parties, Higginbotham Insurance Agency, Inc., and our partners, will not accept unsolicited potential placements from any source other than directly from the candidate or a vendor partner under MSA with Higginbotham.
