Cashier

We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused individual to join our team as a Cashier at The Eatery. This position plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and positive dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy. Responsibilities Greet customers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Accurately process cash, credit, and debit transactions using a cash register or POS (Point of Sale) system. Maintain a balanced cash drawer and handle cash transactions with precision. Ensure correct pricing and promptly resolve discrepancies. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier station, dining areas, and register area. Monitor and restock supplies such as receipt paper, register rolls, utensils, and other service items. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health code guidelines. Stay informed of menu changes, promotions, pricing updates, and policy changes. Attend staff meetings and training sessions. Additional Duties Assist with event setups and special projects as needed. Maintain facility cleanliness, including: Vacuuming carpeted areas. Dust mopping, sweeping, and wet mopping hard floors. Cleaning tables, picking up dishes, and taking out trash. Support operations for special events and performances at the Performing Arts Center and the Eatery’s food truck including evenings and weekends. Assist with front of house recycling and compost initiatives. Qualifications & Eligibility High school diploma or equivalent. Current Arizona Food Handler’s Card. Valid Arizona Driver’s License. Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred. Basic computer skills and experience using POS systems. Strong mathematical skills and ability to handle cash accurately. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (preferred). Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, special events, and holidays. Dependability and regular attendance and timely communication when calling in for shift or changes in schedule. Strong attention to detail, particularly with work orders and timekeeping. Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team. Adaptability to changing workloads and workplace demands. Quick learner with the ability to master new tasks efficiently.
