Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exemplary patient care in various clinical settings. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills and experience to deliver high-quality nursing services, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Unit Information

The float pool encompasses several units including MedSurg Tele and PCU, with a focus on both inpatient care and emergency department holds. The various settings include:

• East Campus: Features a 10-bed NextCare unit for ICU and stepdown patients.
• West Campus: Includes a stepdown area with 14 double-occupancy rooms.
• West Med Tele: A 95-bed unit divided into four areas with MedSurg arranged in 10-room pods.

Patient Care Responsibilities

The RN will manage a range of patient conditions, particularly:

• Geriatric patients
• Orthopedic patients
• Post-procedural care for patients from a strong cath lab program

Common diagnoses in this role include:

• Post Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• Post Cardiac Catheterization
• Post Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) on days 3-4 post-operation

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum of one year experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting
• Required certifications include BLS and ACLS
• Ability to titrate common drips: Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin

Work Environment

Nurses will collaborate with nurse aids and utilize various equipment, including:

• CPAP and BiPAP machines in MedSurg at night
• BiPAP, CPAP, and Heated High Flow in PCU

Registered Nurses are responsible for interpreting telemetry strips; monitor technicians will assist in monitoring patient status.

Scheduling and Flexibility

• Shifts: 7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM
• Scheduling is managed by a dedicated scheduler and published six weeks in advance
• Every other weekend and holiday commitment required
• No on-call or standby requirements

Orientation and Training

The orientation process involves an 8-hour general hospital orientation followed by a 12-hour shift in both West Med Tele and PCU units. East Campus orientation mirrors this but is more straightforward.

Cancellation Policy

There is a cancellation policy allowing for a maximum of four shifts per contract. For contracts under 13 weeks, the maximum is three shifts.

Charting System

The electronic health record system used is Cerner.
