Senior Quality EngineerAs a Senior Quality Engineer, you will own and drive quality systems across the full hardware development and production lifecycle — from early prototypes through subassembly builds and into volume production at our contract manufacturer. You'll work closely with our mechanical, electrical, embedded software, and manufacturing teams to build robust quality processes, define test coverage strategies, and ensure our products meet reliability, safety, and performance requirements.Key Job ResponsibilitiesQuality Systems & ProcessDevelop, implement, and maintain quality management systems (QMS) appropriate for a hardware startup in early productionEstablish and own incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection criteria and proceduresDefine and drive First Article Inspection (FAI) processes with our contract manufacturerCreate and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), CAPAs, and deviation/waiver processesDocumentation & Work InstructionsAuthor and maintain clear, accurate work instructions, assembly procedures, and inspection checklists for the production floorEnsure documentation is version-controlled and synchronized with engineering changesPartner with engineering to enforce Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principlesContract Manufacturer PartnershipServe as a key quality interface with contractors — conducting audits, reviewing quality plans, and driving resolution of production issuesTravel to CM facilities as needed to support builds and resolve quality escapesEstablish quality metrics and reporting cadences with CM leadershipReliability & ComplianceLead or support DFMEA/PFMEA activities to proactively identify and mitigate failure modesSupport product safety and compliance activities (UL, CE, RoHS, UN38.3 for battery, etc.)Drive reliability testing planning and execution, including environmental stress screening (ESS) and accelerated life testing (ALT)About the TeamFauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life. If you care about making robotics real for everyone and building systems that are as delightful as they are capable, we're interested in hearing from you.Basic Qualifications- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures- 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a hardware product company (consumer electronics, robotics, medical devices, or similar)- Hands-on experience with quality systems in a contract manufacturing environment- Proficiency with inspection tools, metrology, and functional test methods for electromechanical assemblies- Experience authoring work instructions, ATPs, and inspection criteria for productionPreferred Qualifications- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production- Experience with the project management of technical projects- Experience with robotics, mechatronics, or complex electromechanical systems- Background in early-stage or startup hardware environments where quality systems were built from scratch- Exposure to battery/energy storage compliance (UN38.3, UL2054)- Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001)- Experience with PLM/QMS tools (Arena, ETQ, Greenlight Guru, or similar)Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
