Job Description
Job Overview
Shriners Children’s St. Louis is seeking three full-time Pediatric Anesthesiologists to join our dedicated perioperative team, providing expert anesthesia care for children undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures, including general orthopedics, spine, upper and lower extremity, sports medicine, and select plastic surgeries. Successful candidates will be fellowship-trained in pediatric anesthesia. This role focuses primarily on mid-acuity and lower pediatric patients, including complex neuromuscular cases, with opportunities to utilize regional anesthesia, ultrasound-guided blocks, and advanced airway management techniques.
Anesthesiologists will run two operating rooms daily in an all-MD model without CRNA supervision, covering 90% of their time in the OR with occasional PACU and preoperative assessments, and will participate in a rotating 1-in-4 home call schedule. The team works closely with pediatric orthopedic surgeons, PT/OT, recreational therapy staff, and APPs in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, with no resident or fellow teaching responsibilities. Shriners Children’s provides a supportive environment for focused pediatric anesthesia practice, managing complex cases without PICU responsibilities, and fostering professional growth within a cohesive, child-focused care team.

- Document all assessments, procedures, and interventions in the electronic health record in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement, safety initiatives, clinical protocol development, and peer review processes.
- May contribute to the training and supervision of residents, fellows, or students as part of academic responsibilities.
- Maintain accountability for meeting established productivity benchmarks (e.g. wRVUS), quality metrics, and institutional performance standards.
- Ensure time is allocated in accordance with assigned clinical, surgical, administrative, and academic expectations.
