Seer is a remote first agency and Certified B-Corp with team members working across the country. If an office environment is more your style, this position can also sit in our HQ office, Philadelphia. We can only consider candidates based in the US who are able to work continental US based hours.

The Role: As a UX Researcher Contractor at Seer, you'll partner with our Sr. UX Lead and Sr. UX Strategist on the Creative Services team to shape user experiences across a diverse range of digital projects. You'll lead both evaluative and generative research, with a focus on usability testing and in-depth interviews, and turn what real people do and say into insights that guide UX strategy and design decisions. You're quick to pick up patterns, patient enough to identify long-term trends, and you own research studies end-to-end, from setup to readout. For the right person, there's strong potential for this role to evolve into a part-time or full-time position. Until then, we are looking for about 15-20 hours a week.

Plan and run the research

• Partner with the Sr. UX Lead and Sr. UX Strategist on Seer's Creative Services team to execute research studies for cross-industry clients across B2B and B2C

• Lead evaluative research, including moderated and unmoderated usability studies, to assess the usability and effectiveness of user interfaces and identify areas for improvement

• Conduct generative research, including in-depth interviews and early-stage moderated research, to identify user needs and opportunities for product growth and innovation

Coordinate the logistics

• Manage research coordination end-to-end, including study setup, screener development, and participant recruiting

• Review project plans and briefs, flagging any dependencies or concerns early

Synthesize and share what you learn

• Code and synthesize findings into insights readouts or slide deck deliverables with relevant research clips for Creative Services team review

• Communicate research plans to Creative Services team stakeholders and maintain communication throughout the research process

• Prepare, execute, and deliver all studies on time

Work smarter with AI

• Follow Seer's AI Policy and apply generative AI tools to research workflows such as screener drafting, transcript analysis, and synthesis, validating every output before it reaches a client

• You have deep, hands-on experience running evaluative research, including moderated and unmoderated usability testing
• You have experience planning and conducting in-depth interviews and other generative research methods
• You have experience managing research logistics, including study setup, screener development, and participant recruitment
• You have a working understanding of web and mobile technologies and experience with remote research tools such as UserInterviews, PlaybookUX, UXtweak, and Outset.ai
• You are a strong analytical problem solver who can code qualitative data and translate findings into clear, actionable, data-driven recommendations
• You are detail oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects across different clients at the same time
• You are comfortable working independently within a defined scope and part-time schedule
• You feel strongly that research quality depends on rigor, and you validate AI-assisted outputs rather than accepting them as-is

• You have experience conducting UX research in an agency or consulting environment
• You have a background in storytelling and generative user research methodologies
• You have consultative experience in digital marketing disciplines such as SEO or GEO

• You need guaranteed full-time hours from day one
• You prefer to support research rather than own studies end to end
• You'd rather focus on quantitative or survey research than usability testing and interviews
• You need detailed direction on every step of a study

$65 - $85 an hour

• Compensation for this role is $65 to $80 per hour

• Your final offered rate will be determined by your skills and experience

• Position type: freelance, with potential to grow into a part-time or full-time role
